Pick to Light

Boosting Efficiency and Accuracy in Order Picking

Pcdata’s Pick to Light system is a cutting-edge solution designed to optimize order picking in bakeries. This light-guided technology streamlines the picking process, helping bakery operations improve speed, accuracy, and overall productivity—while reducing labor costs.

The opposite way of “order building” is also known as “shopping”. The operators collect all ordered items for one customer, then all items for the next customer and so on.

Using Distrib each product location gets a display. The displays are mounted on a rail above the stacks or in a tube at a shelf. At a Distrib industrial, touch screen terminal, the orders for the customers are shown. The operator selects a customer and the displays show how many units the operator has to pick from each product. When all products for the customer are picked, the operator confirms in Distrib and selects the next customer.

Distrib Pick to Light

Distrib Pick to Light is often used in a flow rack as a “pick-and-pass” solution. In this scenario the products are usually in a rack and only bigger items are in full stacks. In front of

the rack is a conveyor or roller-bed. The rack is divided into zones. In the first zone the operator selects the next customer and the displays in his zone light up where he has to pick items from. When all picks in his zone are done, he pushes the crate onto the conveyor to the next zone where the second operator fulfills his picks in the zone. When he is done he pushes the customer to the next zone and so on until the order is completed. The customer’s order flows from zone to zone.

Pcdata provides displays, such as the DIS6, which include confirmation lights to indicate when picks are pending.
